This October, The 63 brings Fyfe Golf and Top100GolfCourses.com to Northern Ireland for a different kind of gathering — 63 holes across four courses in two days, taking in Castlerock and Portstewart.

The journey begins at Castlerock, with nine holes on the Bann Course before an afternoon round over the Mussenden. The following morning we move along the coast to Portstewart, beginning on the Old Course before finishing with 18 holes on the Strand.

Hosted alongside Jasper Miners of Top100GolfCourses.com, The 63 is deliberately simple: good links, good company and as much golf as we can reasonably fit into two days.

Four courses. Two days. One long walk.

CASTLEROCK: Where the dunes meet the Atlantic.

Founded in 1901, Castlerock Golf Club sits on Northern Ireland’s Causeway Coast, where links golf is shaped by dunes, wind and the changing conditions of the Atlantic.

The club is home to two distinct courses. The Mussenden, its championship links, runs through towering dunes with the railway, River Bann and coastline forming part of its character. Alongside it sits the Bann, a nine-hole links with an identity all of its own — shorter in distance, but no less rooted in the natural landscape.

Together they make an unusual pairing. One expansive and demanding, the other compact and characterful. For The 63, they form the opening 27 holes: nine on the Bann before heading straight back out for 18 on the Mussenden.

It is an introduction to the North Coast in its purest form — natural ground, shifting weather and golf dictated as much by imagination as distance.

PORTSTEWART: Two courses. One final stretch.

Set among the dunes overlooking the Atlantic, Portstewart Golf Club has been part of golf on Northern Ireland's North Coast since 1894.

For The 63, we begin with the Old Course, the ground on which the club's story first took shape. Its opening tee sits close to the town and the River Bann, offering a very different expression of Portstewart from the towering dunes that await later in the day.

Then comes the Strand.

Carved through some of the most dramatic duneland on the Causeway Coast, the Strand is Portstewart's championship course and the stage for the final 18 holes of The 63. Its celebrated opening stretch moves immediately into the dunes, with elevation, wind and the Atlantic landscape defining the golf ahead.

After 27 holes the previous day, there are another 36 to play here. The Old in the morning. The Strand in the afternoon.

A fitting place to finish a journey built around one simple idea: play the courses while you're here.

Thursday 1st October — Castlerock

The event opens at 10am, allowing players to register, meet the group and get ready for the day ahead.

First tee time on the Bann Course is 11am, followed by the Mussenden Course from 3pm.

Friday 2nd October — Portstewart

Players should arrive at Portstewart from 8am, ready for the second day of The 63.

First tee time on the Old Course is 9am, followed by the Strand Course from 12.30pm.

Pairs Stableford – Better Ball

Each player plays their own ball throughout, with the team’s score on each hole taken from the higher Stableford points earned by the pair.

Handicaps are welcome across the board — with a maximum playing handicap of 28. All entries will be adjusted using the course and slope rating, applying the standard 90% allowance.

Enter as a pair, or solo — and we’ll match you up.

Whether old friends or new company, the game plays the same.

After the final round on the Strand, we’re planning an informal post-round gathering at Marine & Lawn for those who would like to continue the evening.

The details are still being finalised, but we expect this to include drinks followed by an optional dinner — a chance to settle in after 63 holes, share a few stories from the two days and enjoy the evening together.
